Larry A Brechner, "LAB", is pleased to return to his tenth season at Munster, taking the reins of both the musical and drama productions and forming the Munster Theatre Company, which unites both into a single organization plus seeks to involve students from all areas of visual, music and performing arts. In the past seasons he produced and directed the very successful productions of musicals: Mame, Once Upon A Mattress, The Music Man, Pippin, Brigadoon, Working, The Sound of Music, Snoopy!!!, South Pacific, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Cinderella, Hello Dolly!, Fiddler on the Roof, and Oklahoma!    Larry established the student based Auditorium Staff, which works on all productions and concerts in the auditorium including commercial rentals including the very successful Northwest Indiana Concert Association Concert Series.

With over 30 years of professional and educational theatrical experience, he has worked as the Theatre Administrator at The Center for Visual and Performing Arts, plus as the Production Manager/Resident Lighting Designer for The Center's resident professional Equity theater since 1992. Prior to that he was the Auditorium Director for 13 years at Highland's Monbeck Auditorium, founding the Auditorium Staff, plus the Highland Theatre Company as its Producer/Director.

Larry has worked on hundreds of productions as lighting designer with a variety of theater companies, receiving The Times Reggie Best Lighting Award twice and Best Director-Musical Nominee, plus the 1997 NW Indiana Excellence in Theatre Foundation Best Lighting Award. Larry has just completed his Doctor of Fine Arts (D.F.A.) degree in Theatre Studies this September 2007. He received both his Bachelor and Master's degrees from Purdue University Calumet in Telecommunications and Theatre Production and Management, plus Purdue honored him in 1997 with the prestigious Distinguished Corporate/Community Service Award.


Larry is a voting member for the Grammy Awards since 1980, and serves on the Board of Directors for Leadership Northwest Indiana, LakeNET (advisory board), and Lakeshore PTV (WYIN-TV Channel 56) (where he has been often seen as a on-air pledge host), and Salute, a veterans
recognition group. In 1999, he received the Distinguished Leadership Award from the National Association for Community Leadership at the annual national conference. 

Larry is married to Carol Lynn and is proud dad to Lauren, Jamie, and Christopher (plus grandpa to Carlie, Brooke, Savannah Lynn, and Chase). In his spare time Larry is a recognized photographic artist with several gallery exhibits to his credit, a licensed commercial pilot, and Extra Class amateur radio operator (WB9FQS).

 

Anne Kinser

Auditorium Secretary / Box Office Manager

Anne joined the MHS staff as the new auditorium secretary/box office  manager in 2005.  She has traveled extensively worldwide as a Trade Show Coordinator for American Exhibition Services.  Anne was born in Ireland, where most of her family still resides usually visiting at least once a year. She immigrated to the states in 1981 and resides in Munster with her husband and her two daughters.  Anne especially enjoys working with the Auditorium Staff, Theatre Company, and other MHS students watching them mature from freshman into seniors.

Kurt Popovich

Kurt Popovich
Technical Director

Kurt has been active on Staff the past three years now beginning his fourth season working on every MTC play and musical, plus practically every other event. As a freshman, he earned the Best New Staff Member, and presented the award the following year.  In his sophomore year he was awarded Auditorium Staff varsity letter with Silver Service award (500 hours) and, MTC/Thespian varsity letter.  He won Best Lighting Achievement EQUUS Award last season.  Outside of theatre, currently, he is treasurer of Munster DECA, and has competed in Sales Demonstration receiving third place at districts. He also devotes time after-school to mentoring new members before they compete.  Kurt is also enrolled in CIT, (computer information technology) and the CISCSO networking academy and plans to major in computer engineering .

 

Janelle Bourdeau

Production Manager

Janelle made her on stage debut her freshman year in the novice show, Reunion with Death, and then work mostly as a full crew member, Stage Assistant and last season as Stage Manager.  She won the Best New Staff Member Equus Award last year. She served as Assistant Student Director on the WWTC fall production. Janelle is active in guard.

 

 

 

Nicolas VanWieren

Nicolas Van Wieren
Production Manager

Nicolas served mostly in stage with work in several of the technical areas serving second semester as Stage Assistant. Last season he served as Stage Manager working on every MTC production.

David served all last season as a Technical Assistant serving mostly in lighting and follow spot operations.

Danielle Cacich
Sound Director

Danielle worked all last season as Sound Director winning Best Sound Achievement EQUUS Award. She was promoted to Technical Assistant second semester in her first season working primarily in sound operations. She is also active in Band playing French Horn.

Stephanie Bugyis

Stephanie Bugyis
Stage Manager

Stephanie served all last season as a Stage Assistant and as Stage Manager on several productions.  She is active in band playing French Horn and on the yearbook staff as a photographer.  In her spare time she enjoys classical guitar and drawing

Kassia Groszewski
Stage Manager

Kassia became a Stage Assistant during the second semester last season.  She has also appeared on stage in several MTC productions.  Kassia is also involved in Band.

 

Morgan Midkiff

Morgan Midkiff
House Manager

Morgan served as as House Manager all last season and Assistant House Manager during second semester of the previous season on several all major productions winning the Best House Achievement Equus Award.
 

 

Britney Breger

 

Britney Breger
House Manager

Britney, with only one year on Auditorium Staff, has gained experience and acquired skills to move into a director/manager level position serving as House Manager all last season. She served as Assistant House Manager during second semester and as House Manager on several productions nominated for Best House Achievement Equus Award.  She is also serving as co-Scenic Art Director for Theatre Company.  Britney is active in Spanish Club, Project X, and SADD.  Outside of school, she enjoys photography and is active in youth group, church, volunteering, music, traveling, and meeting new people.  Her future college plans are to major in psychology.
