Prior to the pandemic, we had been wanting to do more to connect students with professionals in theatre and film. This year we met online with professional filmmakers, costume designers, and lighting designers.

This spring we began offering masterclasses. Last month we held two. The first was with Nicole Parker, who is best known for her work on MadTV. She led a masterclass with all MTC and WWTC students on improv and comedy acting.

On March 29, the cast of Peter and the Starcatcher met with Celia Keenan-Bolger. She won a Tony Award for her portrayal of Scout Finch in the recent Broadway production of To Kill a Mockingbird, and she also was nominated for her portrayal of Molly in the Broadway production of Peter and the Starcatcher.

Participating in these classes has enabled students to enhance their performance skills. In addition, students who are serious about going into the profession can ask questions about what it is like!

Next week, we will have one final masterclass with the writer of Peter and the Starcatcher, Rick Elice. Facilitation of these masterclasses comes from our ongoing partnership with Projects with Jason, which has provided so many opportunities for MTC students this year!

These experiences are possible because of ongoing support through ticket sales and patron donations. If you want to know more about how you can help continue these classes for our students next year, please reach out to Ray Palasz at
