Both Middle and High School Thespian Troupes Advance to State for First Time Ever!

Wilbur Wright and Munster High School competed at the Indiana Thespians Regional Conference on December 2 at Hobart High School.

This year the Munster Thespians performed a play entitled The Yellow Boat.  It follows the true story of Benjamin Saar, who is diagnosed with HIV in the early 1980s, during the early days of the AIDS epidemic.  Wilbur Wright produced I Never Saw Another Butterfly, a true story about the children of the Terezin ghettos during the Holocaust.

The Yellow Boat took first place, only 3 points away from a perfect score.  I Never Saw Another Butterfly took second.

Leo Sculli (I Never Saw Another Butterfly) and Delaney Craig (The Yellow Boat) each earned the Rising Star Awards for their shows.  These awards are given out by the State Thespian Officers, the student leadership of Indiana Thespians.

I Never Saw Another Butterfly earned the judges' Outstanding Ensemble Award, and Clover Sarkady earned the judges' Outstanding Lead Performer Award.

Both shows will compete at the Indiana Thespians State Conference January 19-21 at Indiana Wesleyan University.
